Interior CS declares 13th December a Public holiday

The government has declared Monday the 13th of December a public holiday.

In a statement Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, says that since Jamhuri Day which is on 12th of December falls on a Sunday, the government will hold the celebrations on the said day, however the country will have a holiday on Monday in line with the Constitution.

He encouraged all citizens to honour and celebrate this day in a manner that promotes unity, national cohesion and economic progress in the country.

He noted that the day bears profound historical significance as it marks the attainment of Kenya’s independence and the birth of the Republic.
