The Directorate of Immigration Services has cautioned Kenyans against using brokers when applying for passports.

The Services Director-General Alexander Muteshi says Kenyans are using brokers to fast-track issuance of passports.

General Alexander Muteshi said indications are that some members of the public are using brokers to fast-track issuance of passports.

He said the department has means to detect unorthodox means to attempt to bypass the e-citizen appointment system, noting that such passports will not be approved.

Muteshi said the department has put in place a special Desk at Nyayo House to address urgent and emergency passport application cases including individuals who need to travel abroad to seek medical attention, those who need to travel to school abroad with short notice and employees who need to return to work will be given priority.

He said some unscrupulous Kenyans have taken advantage of the current Covid-19 pandemic to fleece Kenyans with a promise of quick passport processing.
