Rio Olympics: Ex sports CS Hassan Wario freed, paying 3.6M Fine in Graft case

Former Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario has paid the  Ksh. 3.6 million fine and avoided the  six years jail term.

Wario was sentenced to six years in jail or pay the fine after being found guilty of abuse of office in the 2016 Rio Olympics Graft Case.

Issuing the sentence Nairobi Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma said  the court found Wario guilty of abuse of office and misuse of public funds.

Team Kenya Head of Delegation in 2016 Rio Olympics , Stephen Soi was handed  10 years  jail term or pay a fine of Ksh. 105 million. 

The court while convicting Wario said that indeed he took advantage of his office and had three other persons travel and be included in the team Kenya and have allowances issued to them.
