Hotels in the country get a revamp stimulus

Hotels in the country have started receiving the Sh3 billion tourism sector government stimulus.

The move comes in bid to help mitigate the effects of Covid-19 on businesses.

The payment is being extended to hoteliers in the form of soft loans through the Tourism Finance Corporation (TFC).

Yesterday, TFC said successful applicants have started receiving payments.

Therefore loans have been disbursed in Meru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kitui and Kisumu counties.

The move comes after Hotel owners requested for financial support from the government.

They seeked means to diffuse the impact of COVID-19 on operations.

A sizable number of hotels in the coastal region still remain closed despite the COVID -19 relaxed measures by the government.
