Ghana receives 350,000 more doses of the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine

Ghana has received 350,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines.

This is the second consignment received via the global COVAX facility.

The consignment was originally allocated to the Democratc Republic of Congo, however the country failed to use it.

The West African country was the first to receive vaccines from the COVAX vaccine sharing scheme in February.

The country then kicked off its vaccination campaign in early March.

The first consignment from COVAX was inclusive of 600,000 doses of vaccines.Ghana has administered more than 900,000 doses, with about 850,000 Ghanaians vaccinated out of a population of 31 million
