Tanzania president Samia Suluhu arrives in the country for a two-day state visit

Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport ahead of a two state visit. She has been received by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, Tanzanian Ambassador to Kenya Dan Kazungu, officials from the foreign affairs ministry including the Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo.

Her visit marks the first state visit from Tanzania since 2016. It is also her second foreign trip after visiting Uganda President, Yoweri Museveni in Kampala last month.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive her at the State House Nairobi. She is expected to inspect the guard of honor and receive a 21 gun salute in the same venue.

She will thereafter hold bilateral meetings and consultations and later an official state dinner will be held in her honor.

Tomorrow, President Samia will attend a joint sitting of Kenya’s national assembly and senate which is scheduled to begin at 2:30pm. Thereafter, she will hold consultations at a Kenya-Tanzania business forum and finally attend a session with executive women in business.
