President Uhuru Kenyatta unveils new land management system

President Uhuru Kenyatta has unveiled a new land management system, Arthisasa, that will require land owners and prospective owners to only transact through the online system starting within Nairobi City County.

The president hailed the first phase of the fully fledged digitization of land records as a starting point to resolve the perennial land question with land transactions perennially linked with corrupt dealings manipulated by cartels.

Spearheading the Digitization project Lands CS Farida Karoney said that the previous system used for land transactions has been shut down commending the new project stating the advantage of easy access and its user friendly state.

On the platform, buyers will be able to search for a parcel of land located on the resources map located and even narrow down to its specific location aided by satellite images.

The system is built such that all parcels of land can be accounted for with their ownership traceable without the need of physical documents involved.
