Examination Centers must have 2 officers to ensure integrity, says Magoha

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha now says that each centre manager in the ongoing KCPE examinations must have two officers to ensure the integrity of the examinations.

Magoha said, “No questions must arise regarding the integrity of the examination. The government will deal with any individual participating in exam fraud. Each child must have the opportunity to sit for the exams.”

Speaking from Machakos county Magoha said the Education Ministry has budgeted for two officers per examination centre.

He however said that some centres are yet to implement this concept.

In Machakos, the CS said he learnt that each centre had only one officer and called for the issue to be resolved immediately.

He has also barred the media from accessing the examination centers. According to the Siaya Director of Education, Nelson Sifuna, the directive will curb the spread of the virus.

Sifuna added that Magoha warned against disclosing details about the ongoing examinations. He said, “Professor Magoha warned us through text messages to refrain from taking any video clips or photos.”

He said the system has been ongoing for years and asked other schools not adhering to the concept to immediately follow suit.
