Mar 10th 2021 – The Council of Governors (COG) is meeting today, with top on agenda being deliberations of the COVID-19 vaccine rollouts in the country.
The meeting comes even as some counties have already received and launched the vaccination exercise.
In Nairobi, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), launched the coronavirus vaccination exercise, across the county.
NMS Director, General Mohamed Badi, said the priority is being given to healthcare workers and those living with underlying health conditions.
In Busia, the county received 6,000 doses of the vaccine to be administered to front-line workers.
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi, who is also the acting County Executive Committee Member for health and sanitation in the county, urged locals to get vaccinated.
Meanwhile the ministry of Health says the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination will include people over 18 years with underlying health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, HIV and cardiovascular conditions.
The third phase will target the people in congregate settings like the care homes, detention centres, informal settlements, people working in entertainment sectors and restaurants retail and banking sectors.
