ODM says it’s still a force to reckon with despite winning 1 of 7 seats available

March, 5th 2021 – The ODM party says that it is still a force to reckon with despite winning one of the seven by-elections for two constituencies and five wards. 

In a statement, ODM executive director Oduor Ongwen says that their candidate in matungu constituency David Were who finished second was coming against a combined force of ANC, Ford Kenya, Wiper, and Kanu.

Ongwen also condemned the acts of violence in most of the by-elections adding that IEBC should crack down on those found culpable.

In all the seven by-elections ODM won the Kiamokama ward in Kisii county. ANC candidate Peter Nabulindo who won the matungu constituency promised to work to unite the constituency.

He said that his dream has come true and now he will be able to do some of the things that he had dreamt of doing for Matungu Constituency. He also urged the people of Matungu to work with him as his aim is to bring about unity in the constituency.

The ANC leader Mudavadi says the win in Matungu  will ensure service delivery and development for the constituency.

Mudavadi said, “and we pleaded that the people of Matungu jointly with our brothers and sisters in Kabuchai have the singular honor and duty to make sure that they speak for us, and today we are proud people because the people of Matungu have spoken for the whole of Western Kenya and on our behalf, they have said, gentlemen and ladies, western Kenya is not a place to play with.”

Ford Kenya won the Kabuchai constituency with their Majimbo Kalasinga candidate. Speaking after his win, Kalasinga promised to improve service delivery in the constituency.

He said, “I want to take this very singular opportunity to thank the party leader of Ford Kenya Honorable Moses Masika Wetangula, and to thank the people of Kabuchai and to thank all those guys who saw me through whatever standards to make this a success. But it is a serious challenge to take over from an able MP who left. It is not easy but I give my prayers to God.”

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula congratulated Kalasinga for his win and also assured that the party will bring about development in the constituency.

UDA party whose members are allied to deputy president William Ruto won the london ward in Nakuru county after Antony Nzuky beat the jubilee candidate. Jubilee party won the Hell’s gate and the huruma ward by-election.
