Feb 23rd 2021 A Kenyan Police prospective recruit collapsed and died on Monday during a recruitment exercise, in Bokoli Secondary School, Bungoma county.
The recruit Dennis Mukhebi, who hailed from Bokoli area, is said to have gone through all the initial recruitment stages ahead of the exercise.
The candidate, who collapsed while doing push ups, was rushed to Bokoli Subcounty Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In Kibra sub-county, chairperson of the recruitment panel Mwenze Mbai said the exercise which was observed by among others the independent medical legal unit was smooth and without any irregularities recorded.
Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, has termed the one day exercise a success where the service is seeking to boost the numbers by 4,700 officers.
He added that the names of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed in the recruitment portal on a date to be advertised.
