Feb, 9th 2021 – AFC Leopards moved up one place on the football Kenya premier league despite being held to a barren draw by rivals Gor Mahia in the mashemeji derby on Sunday .
Leopards are now fourth on the table with 19 points. Their move is after Kariobangi sharks lost at the weekend to drop to 5th. Gor Mahia remain 6th on the table which is being led by Tusker Fc on 26 points.
The derby was the first without fans and the flare was missed from the green army and the Ingwe faithful. Both teams were however allowed to have a maximum of forty fans to grace the derby.
Separately reports indicate that assistant coach Anthony Kimani has tendered his resignation and will leave the club for other assignments.
Pundits say that Kimani was agitated by the cycle being a caretaker coach. The club has moved to hire a foreign tactician, Patrick Aussems, who watched the derby from the stands probably to relegate Kimani ‘Modo’ to second in command.
