DCI puts goons on notice following destructive Tuesday protests

Thousands of business and innocent Kenyans  are tonight counting losses after  a group of marauding gangs seemingly took advantage of the youthful anti government demonstrations to rob people and destroy property

Groups of gangs in various parts of the country have broken into shops, homes, robbed motorists and torched cars along major highways as the occupy everywhere protest entered the third week.

Retail shops in the nairobi cbd have been vandalized, up to three cars and business  torched in Mombasa county whereas gangs in Mlolongo were whisked after they invaded the Nairobi expressway shortly after paralyzing the  Gateway Mall in Syokimau and Signature Mall in the Sabaki area road,by blocking several sections of the highway using stones and lit live fires using tyres  so as to steal phones and money from the motorist.

Gangs caused wanton damage in Nakuru, vandalized premises in Kisumu, tore apart a  section of a Migori town inbound roads as the situation remained alike in Kisii county.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations says it has now dispatched  teams to pursue the gangs, warning that criminals involved in the unlawful  activities shall be met with the full force of the law.

DCI teams have been dispatched to pursue gang members recorded by concerned citizens violently robbing innocent Kenyans on the roads, while taking advantage of the ongoing demonstrations. Anyone involved in the criminal activities are reminded that it is just a matter of time.” DCI tweeted
