DAPK party leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced the party will open party primary elections for the aspirants contesting various seats including the Malava seat that fell vacant following the passing of Moses Malulu Injendi on February 17, 2025.
His pronouncement follows the reconstitution of the polls body IEBC with preparations for by-elections now in the offing.
”Unlike the other parties that have already decided who is going to fly party tickets we, the Democracy Action Party will allow the people of Malava themselves to choose for us the representative and the next leader of that great constituency of my late friend.” He remarked.
Wamalwa also revealed that the party electoral board has been constituted and the best candidate will be democratically handed over the party ticket to contest in the senatorial, parliamentary and ward seats.
Apart from Malavs and Kasipul seats that fell vacant following the passing of the areas mps, Wamalwa has observed that several candidates from the party are eyeing position in areas not perceived to the party strong hold
These positions including Ugunja constituency, fell vacant after Opiyo Wandayi was appointed Cabinet Secretary by President William Ruto.
”We have an elections board that will come down and make sure that you have the opportunity, either by a consensus to agree and elect the flag bearer. ” He added
Wamalwa further warned IEBC chairperson Edung Ethekon and his 6 commissioner against dancing the political tune and urged for impartiality in the running of the polls body.
This as he appealed to the national assembly to to expedite the passing of the supplementary budget II that holds the budgetary allocation for IEBC.
