The National Police Service (NPS) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have concluded that Juja MP George Koimburi stage-managed his recent abduction for political mileage.
Speaking at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road, DCI Director Amin Mohamed revealed that investigations—including the interrogation of three suspects—showed inconsistencies that discredited claims of a forceful abduction. “We were able to track all his movements and even identified the hotel and room he slept in,” said Mohamed.
The suspects—Peter Kiratu (Juja CDF chairman), Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Karanja Gatana—allegedly helped execute the staged incident using a Subaru Forester to simulate the abduction outside a church in Mugutha.
Police say the MP gave instructions during the staged act and was later “discovered” in a coffee plantation in Juja. Investigators were also barred from questioning Koimburi while he was hospitalised, raising further suspicion.
The police have confirmed that legal action will follow once investigations are complete.
