Public Service CS Muturi Fired as President Ruto Reshuffles Cabinet

President William Ruto has announced a fresh round of Cabinet changes, replacing Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi with Geoffrey Ruku and nominating Hanna Wendot to head the Ministry of Gender and Culture.

In the reshuffle, former Environment CS Aden Duale was transferred to the Health Ministry, while Deborah Barasa, who previously led the Health docket, was reassigned to Environment.

According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the changes aim to enhance the Cabinet’s capacity to drive Kenya’s socioeconomic transformation. The nominees will undergo parliamentary vetting before their official appointment.

Muturi’s dismissal follows his recent criticism of the government, including allegations of abductions targeting young Kenyans. His removal also came a day after Ruto publicly criticized him for incompetence, particularly over delays in establishing the Waqf, a charitable endowment for the Muslim community.

While addressing Muslim leaders during an Iftar session, Ruto blamed Muturi for inefficiencies in handling legal matters, expressing confidence that his replacement would resolve the delays.

Ruto’s latest reshuffle is seen as part of broader efforts to streamline his administration ahead of key governance and policy implementations.
