The National Police Service says it has launched investigations into the fatal road accident involving a speeding motorcade attached to President William Ruto that occurred along Ngong Road killing a national foreigner on the spot.
In a statement NPS has urged members of the public with details of the accident to report to nearby police stations to aid in investigations.
“Following the road traffic accident that occurred today at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road, involving government vehicles and resulting in the death of a pedestrian who is a foreign national, the National Police Service is handling the matter, and investigations have commenced,” the NPS stated.
The tragedy has drawn public attention and condemnation to the state motorcade as the pedestrian was crossing at the zebra crossing near green house mall.
Police confirmed that the foreigner’s body has been transferred for preservation at the city mortuary.
The accident coincided with President William Ruto visit to Lang’ata and Kibra Constituencies marking his fourth day of his Nairobi development tour.
The head of state was expected to make a stop at Ayany Primary School in Kibera, where he is engaging various stakeholders and learners.
