Harambee stars set to unveil new head coach

Incoming Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has touched down in Kenya ahead of his official unveiling next week, putting an end to speculation surrounding his appointment.

The Harambee Stars coaching role became vacant following the resignation of Turkish tactician Engin Firat.

Experienced local coach Francis Kimanzi has been holding the position on an interim basis but is now expected to be named Football Kenya Federation’s Technical Director.

McCarthy holds the distinction of being an all-time top scorer with 31 goals for his country.

The 46-year-old also remains the only South African to have won the UEFA Champions League, lifting the trophy with Porto in 2004 under José Mourinho.
