The Ruling United Democratic Alliance Party has appealed the high court decision declaring Azimio as the majority party in the National Assembly.
The twin appeal filed by both the National Assembly and UDA party leaders led by Majority leader Kimani Ichungwah, wants the execution of the judgement suspended until the case is heard and determined.
According to the appellants, the ruling has thrown the national assembly into a spin on which party is the majority and the minority.
Further, they conclude that without the stay orders, there will be irreversible consequences that might interrupt the transactions of house business.
Last week, members of the ODM party staged a walkout after speaker Moses Wetangula declared the ruling Kenya Kwanza party the majority.
The appeal would however be overtaken by events as the national assembly moves to award key Raila Odinga lieutenants with lucrative parliamentary committees to solidify the broad based arrangement in the legislature, even as the business of the fourth session kicks off in earnest.
