Kayole starlets edged out their derby rivals Mathare United 1-0 in a thrilling women’s encounter at the Komarock Calvary grounds on Sunday.
The solitary goal by Mercy Manguro few minutes into the second half served Kayole Starlets’ ninth consecutive win in the Women’s National Super League as they aim for a slot at the top tier league.
Mathare Women came close to equalizing, but Pauline Kathuruh remained solid, pulling off a crucial save to deny Mathare’s striker who had broken through on goal.
The Kayole side have not conceded any goal this season and remain top of the Zona A table
Head coach Mary Adhiambo had issued a warning to Mathare ahead of the highly anticipated “Eastlands Derby,” vowing to maintain her team’s impressive momentum.
