The Directorate of Criminal Investigation has appealed to the general public to provide information on the whereabouts of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who is the prime suspect of the murder of over 40 women at the Kware dumpsite.
In a notice to the public, the DCI says Jumaisi has been at large for over 4 months now since his escape from police custody in August last year, raising questions over the integrity of the probe.
The investigators have also announced an unspecified cash reward to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts.
“A significant cash reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest,” the DCI said in the appeal, which asked the public to report confidentially to a police hotline, or to any police station in the country.”
This, as eight officers attached to the Gigiri police station who were on duty when Jumaisi escaped were released on bond despite preliminary investigations indicating that the escape was aided by insiders”.
According to the Milimani law court, there was insufficient evidence to justify their detention.
Jumaisi was arrested after police claimed he confessed to murdering 42 women after dismembered bodies were found in a quarry.
