Anti-riot police have been stationed outside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Gigiri ahead of Kiambu Senator Karung’o Thangwa’s grilling over the chaos witnessed at a burial in Limuru last week.
Also Set to appear before the detectives is Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi.
Police reinforced security at the Mazingira Building, including deploying water cannons, anticipating potential unrest.
This followed a crowd in Nyeri chanting anti-government slogans during Thangwa’s earlier appearance.
Thang’wa, a close ally of Former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua however termed the summons as intimidation stating that he is ready to present himself at the DCI Offices in Nyeri
The DCI is investigating the November 28th incident in Limuru, where mourners were injured, and property destroyed during a funeral attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua, who escaped unharmed, accused the state of targeting him.
