Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has defended himself before the national assembly as he sought to defend himself from the impeachment motion that if upheld will mark the historic ouster of a kenyan deputy president since the 2010 constitution
Gachagua has clapped back at the proponent of the motion, Kibwezi MP Mwengi Mutuse, in his eleven accusations including undermining the presidency and other state officers.
According to Gachagua who produced video evidence of President Wiliam Ruto calling out the former DCI & IG bosses serving in the Uhure regime as incompetent, Gachagua says his actions to call out leaders in the present regime were informed by his boss when he served as DP
“I sympathise with President Ruto because this information was not available to him. NIS is mandated to provide such information and that is where the problem is; we have a dysfunctional NIS that has exposed the President, the government and the people of Kenya,” Gachagua said then.
“Noordin Haji must take responsibility for the deaths that have occurred, the mayhem witnessed and for failing Ruto, the government and Kenya by not doing his job and advising correctly. He must not just take responsibility but resign from that office and allow the president to pick a competent DG.”
Rigathi Gachagua has learnt his job from his boss, that public officers must be called to order when they fall short of expectations, and I never saw anybody bringing William Ruto here for impeachment for criticizing the IG or the DCI. This is a very unfair allegation,” Gachagua concluded.
On accusations of infiltrating the Nairobi county government by calling for the stay of Marikiti market traders, against the order to be relocated to Kangundo road market, Gachagua has said that traders sought his intervention when county askaris acted with force to enforce the relocation
On accusation of opulence that included the renovation of his Karen and Mombasa residences, Gachagua has hit out at the MPs for approving his residence renovation budg just to come and seek for his impeachment.
