Multimedia University Students Protest, Disrupt Traffic on Magadi Road

Transport along Magadi Road in Ongata Rongai has been disrupted due to a rampage by students from Multimedia University.

The students are protesting a water shortage in their hostels and other areas of the institution, claiming they issued several complaints but to no avail, prompting their decision to take to the streets today.

In addition to the water crisis, the students highlighted issues such as limited internet access, dysfunctional electrical sockets, and insufficient furniture, all of which they say are negatively impacting their studies.

“Some of the hostels have dysfunctional sockets. Others lack study chairs. We have raised these issues but no one has responded to our cries for help,” they added.

The rioting students took to the streets, blocking a section of the busy road, with motorists left camping for hours.

“We resorted to going on strike since our calls to the administration remained unanswered,” the students said.

Speaking to the press,  Multimedia University student leaders noted the protests would go on until the school administration fixes the situation.
