Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has accused President William Ruto of being behind the recent wave of abductions and killings linked to anti-government protests.
During a press conference, Wanjigi alleged that President Ruto’s administration is unlawfully using state machinery to instill fear among Kenyans through abductions, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.
“President Ruto has not only violated the Constitution of Kenya but also contravened the oath of office he took,” stated the former presidential candidate.
Accompanied by his lawyer Willis Otieno and other leaders, Jimi Wanjigi urged Kenyans to rise up and demand accountability and justice for the ongoing abductions across the country.
Wanjigi emphasized the need for collective action to confront the increasing cases of enforced disappearances and hold those responsible to account.
“He has become Constitution delinquent. For the avoidance of doubt, President Ruto is solely responsible for the abductions, enforced disappearances and murdering of the young people of this country Gen Z. He has turned police into his political militia.”
He added that the alleged abductions, enforced disappearances, and the extrajudicial killings witnessed in the country were a strategy by the government to spread fear among Kenyans.
Wanjigi also demanded the immediate release of activist Bob Njagi, along with brothers Longton Jamil and Aslam Jamil, who were abducted two weeks ago in Kitengela by individuals believed to be police officers. He called for urgent action to secure their freedom and ensure justice is served.
