President Museveni Accuses MP Babu Owino of Interfering in Ugandan Politics

Uganda adopts Kiswahili as official language

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has accused Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino of meddling in Ugandan politics.

Speaking while endorsing Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position, Museveni claimed that Owino has been collaborating with anti-ruling party activists in Uganda, based on intelligence reports he has received.

Museveni voiced his disapproval of Owino’s involvement in Uganda’s political affairs, indicating his concern over external influence in the country’s internal matters.

“There are some individuals in Raila’s group who I don’t think know what they are doing. I am a consumer of intelligence services so I always see intelligence service reports,” he said.

“There is a character called Babu. I always see Babu dealing with anti-NRM groups. I have never accused him but now I am accusing him.”

He went on to say that despite knowing this, he has never accused Babu of it, until today.

“I have never accused him, but now I am accusing him.”

Babu Owino has been a vocal supporter of Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

Babu has publicly declared his support for his movement and ideologies.
