Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has condemned some political leaders who he claims are trying to revitalize tribalism characterized by the old political order.
In a statement on X, the senator states that the country must never go back to the days when political groups mobilized along ethnic lines.
The civil rights activist has encouraged all Kenyans to protect the new tribeless society anchored in the 2010 constitution.
He has said that ethnic backgrounds should not be a ‘do or die affair’ which focused on tribal alignments that propagated the ideas of tribalism
“Going forward, all Kenyans of all generations and walks of life must arise, boldly stand up and make the conscious decision to protect the new tribeless society anchored in the constitution by working to create a country where one’s ethnic background is not a do or die affair,” Omtatah said.
Omtatah continued by congratulating the efforts of the Genz in their revolution to rationalize a movement that was driven by the constitution.
He has further acknowledged that the determination which was tribeless and focused on slaying the monster of impunity, tribalism, regionalism, mediocrity, corruption, wastefulness, and general political decay.
