Kuria: You’re unfair for demanding tax cuts but improved services from govt

The chairman of the finance and national planning committee Kuria Kimani sponsoring the finance bill 2024 has urged Kenyans to equally give inputs on the  budget estimate subject to public participation.

Kimani argues that the mobilization of the tax revenues is largely influenced by the  budgets accusing Kenyans of unfairness when demanding a reduction in tax but quality service from the government.

The Budget and Appropriation committee is concurrently running its public participation exercise in over 22 counties and the locals there are dmeanding for roads, bridges and dams and none is saying the budget should be cut.” Kuria stated during an interview at Nation Media group.

The finance committee has invited Kenyans to give their input on the Finance Bill 2024 which contains proposals relating to revenue-raising measures, including a raft of taxes.

The public participation deadline  has been set on May 28th .

The Departmental Committee has invited the members of the public to submit their written views on the bill which intends to raise an additional Sh 323 billion in taxes in the financial year that starts in July.
