Cmttee begins hearing of Linturi impeachment motion

The hearing of the impeachment motion against Agriculture Cabinet secretary Mithikia Linturi begins Wednesday morning.

The 11 member select committee probing the case presented by Bumula member of parliament Jack Wamboka Wanami is investigating three grounds pegged on the ouster of Linturi implicated in the fake fertilizer scandal

Linturi is accused of gross violation of the Constitution or any other law,  committing  a crime under national law, as well as gross misconduct in office.

Appearing before pretrial hearing at parliament building Tuesday Wanami exuded confidence in the motion urging the International community to distance CS Linturi while claiming that his life is in danger

“If Linturi was a gentleman he would have resigned by now. I will be appealing to Kenyan partners and donors to stop any interaction with the CS and declare him persona non grata on the basis that he was voted out by 149 members,” said Wamboka.

“This matter has not been easy. I have been followed forcing me to enhance my security. My wife has also been attacked online, but I know that this is something I signed for and I am not relenting,” said Wamboka, adding, “I have no option but to soldier on.”

The committee is on a three day marathon hearing until Friday thereafter the whole house will convene on Monday as summoned speaker Moses Wetnagula to consider the report by the committee on Linuri’s impeachment
