Champions league serves up tough quaterfinal ties

The UEFA champions league quarterfinals matches are beckoning with 8 teams battling out to book a place into the semifinals of the coveted title.

Defending champions Manchester’s City trampled over Copenhagen 6-3 in the round of 16 , and will be hoping for a repeat of last times outcome where they beat Madrid in two legs to advance to the finals. City will be without right back Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake when they travel to Spain for a repeat faceoff with Real Madrid at he Bernabeu.

City’s manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his team will have to adapt due to injuries on key players, adding that they will try their best to get a result in the match, having rested in form attacker Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva in the weekend as they thrashed Crystal palace by four goals to two.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will manage his 200th game in the Champions league and has stated that his team is confident despite the prospect of a difficult game , praising the blend of having veterans and young players in the team with an aim of reaching the finals of the champions league.

At the same time Arsenal will play in the quarterfinals of the champions league for the first time in 15 years when they play Bayern Munich at the Emirates.

Arsenal arrive for this match having not lost a single match in 2024 and have every outfield player available for this match while in contrasting difference their opponents Bayern Munich have had a turbulent number of games and are currently 16 points adrift of Bayer Leverkusen in the race for the Bundesliga title .

“The squad is looking good and we know the task ahead of us against a huge club with a lot of experience. We haven’t done it for 15 years and this is the opportunity and we have to rely on it”. Arteta said

Bayern will play without their fans at the Emirates as Arsenal aim to use that to their advantage going into the second leg in Germany next week
