CS Kuria to Release Monthly Performance Reports for Cabinet Ministries

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has announced plans to release performance reports of Cabinet Secretaries, starting from this month. He made this announcement during the launch of National Youth Service (NYS) programs on Friday, April 5.

Kuria stated that these reports will first be submitted to President William Ruto and will also be presented during Cabinet meetings to assess service delivery progress.

He emphasized that these reports will be made public on a monthly basis to promote accountability and transparency across all government agencies. He warned his colleagues to improve their performance and fulfill promises made to Kenyans during campaigns.

“I want to tell all the CSs and PSs that I have also been tasked with performance delivery. That work entails looking at service delivery in all government institutions. And starting this April, I will be releasing a report to the Cabinet on the progress.

Kuria outlined that the performance evaluation will be based on commitments made during the government roadshow earlier in the year, with a focus on key sectors such as housing, health, and roads. Since assuming the Public Service docket in 2023, Kuria has been adamant about pushing government officers to achieve the President’s agenda, particularly centered around the Bottom-Up economic model.

“And because I am an honest person, shouldn’t we also make the report public? I will be releasing that report monthly so that we can be able to call out others (the underperformers),” he stated.

Additionally, Kuria highlighted the role of Kenyans in improving service delivery by exposing underperforming government agencies through a public portal. This aligns with efforts to encourage public participation in governance and hold officials accountable.
