Spotify curates “He is Risen” gospel content for Christian Gen Zs

Spotify has curated an Easter content for the Gen Z’s Christian market that offer solutions to their diverse needs so as to grow holistically.

The streaming platform has announced that it has created a dedicated haven, an Easter gospel hub, dubbed “He is Risen” as one stop shop of spiritual content for anyone seeking connection, spiritual enrichment, and joyful celebration with a promise of offering an ethereal experience.

The American firm says the selection encompasses enriching podcasts of sermons, bible study sessions, daily devotions and prayers from inspiring preachers to fuel listeners faith journey.

The new product, Spotify says, was informed by the increasing and significant number of Gen Z’s accessing the platform to consume music and podcasts with Kenya and Nigeria topping the list with South Africa and Ghana also setting high records in the past two years.

The platform has since recorded a a significant rise in both podcast listenership with Nigeria: 482%, Kenya: 69%, South Africa: 44%, Ghana: 85%) and gospel music streams (Kenya: 365%, Nigeria: 1228%, South Africa: 288%, Ghana: 329%) between 2022 and 2024. ” Spotify records.

This enthusiasm is further reflected in the creation of user-generated playlists, with Nigeria boasting over 140k, South Africa surpassing 470k, Kenya exceeding 70k, and Ghana with more than 45k gospel playlists curated by Gen Z users.

Spotify is currently the leading audio streaming platform with a subscription service of 602 million users, including 236 million Spotify Premium subscribers, in over 180 markets.
