Kenyans to start receiving passports within a month, PS Bitok says

The govt has announced that Kenyans will now be getting their passports within a month from the date of application.

Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizens Services Julius Bitok has revealed President William Ruto has instructed the department to make sure that the perennial delay at Nyayo House comes to an end.

“President Ruto ordered me to make sure that Kenyans get passports promptly. He told me he had talked with Ndindi Nyoro to make sure that we have enough resources to streamline the process, so in the next three months we shall end the delay and ensure everyone gets their passport within a month of application,” Bitok said.

His sentiments come after Kenyans encountered yet another delay at Nyayo house despite previous assurances by the government that there would be no further delays.

The government attributed the delays to a hitch on the printing machine, saying that it was doing everything possible to make it work.
