Senator Khalwale sues Shimanyula for defamation over cause of worker’s death

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has filed a defamation suit against businessman Cleophas Shimanyula, also known as Toto seeking hundreds of millions in damages for linking him to his worker’s death.

Khalwale wants Shimanyula to admit liability and pay compensation to settle the matter or prepare for a defamation suit.

Following the conclusion of the autopsy, Khalwale issued a demand letter to the Kakamega tycoon to apologize and express willingness to compensate him for damages caused by his “defamatory remarks”

But Shimanyula has refused to offer an apology as demanded on February 8, leading to the filing of the suit today by lawyers Danstan Omari, Omaiyo Aranga and Shadrack Wambui.

They seek an order stopping Shimanyula from posting and publishing on any media platform defamatory remarks relating to him, his family and late employer Kizito Moi Amukune.

Besides Khalwale’s defamation suit, the senator has instructed his lawyers to write a demand letter to his 3 surviving wives and 17 children.
