“DP Gachagua Issues Directive for Swift Settlement of Pending Bills by Governors and State Agencies”

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has called upon the Council of Governors and state agencies to expedite the settlement of pending bills for the financial year 2022/23.

Stressing the importance of efficiency in the payment process, Gachagua urged both entities to streamline their procedures.

“Prompt payments for goods and services release funds to our people and spurs economic growth for a better and vibrant economy. Let money circulate,” he said.

Speaking during the recent Inter-governmental Budget Economic Council meeting at his Karen residence that brought together the Council of Governors, state agencies, and key government officials, Gachagua reiterated the government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the prompt allocation of funds to counties. 

The second in command, also appealed to leaders to collaborate with the national government in the fight against corruption, emphasizing its detrimental impact on the escalating wage bill.

“We must tackle the threats of a rising wage bill. Corruption is a threat to both levels of government let us work collectively to put in place control measures to monetize the use of public funds for procurement and expenditure to be within the law,” stated Gachagua.

Commending the leaders for their support of the government’s ambitious plans to stimulate economic growth, Gachagua acknowledged President William Ruto’s personal dedication to the success of devolution and the enhancement of service delivery to the people of Kenya. 

The deputy president emphasized the collective responsibility in safeguarding the nation’s economic interests and fostering a conducive environment for sustainable development.
