Harambee Stars to play Burundi and Ivory Coast after Sychelles win in the 2026 FIFA World cup qualifiers

The national soccer team Harambee Stars sit third in the 2026 world cup qualifiers after the 5-0 win over minnows Sychelles.

Michael Olunga scored a brace while Masoud Juma, Rooney Onyango and Benson Omalla scored one each as Harambee Stars thumped the Island nation on Monday night, in Abidjan Ivory Coast.

It was a one-sided affair all through, and a critic would be excused to ask for more as wasteful Stars had clear chances to score more than 10, in their second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

It is not surprising that another Group F competitor Ivory Coast on Friday hammered Seychelles 9-0, going by the cluelessness exhibited in the match, as Stars made light work of the Island nation.

The next round of qualifiers will be played in June 2024 where Kenya will play Burundi and favorites of the group Ivory Coast.

Kenya will however capitalize on friendlies before June next year and CECAFA tournaments if they will be played to prepare for the world cup qualifiers.

Kenya is not part of the AFCON 2023 that will be played in January 2024 in Ivory Coast after failing to participate in qualifiers due to the FIFA suspension then.

Ivory Coast lead the group followed by Gambia and Gambia sit fourth and Seychelles tail the group.
