The National Council of Churches of Kenya wants the time allocated for the National dialogue committee to collect views extended.
The council argues that more Kenyans need to submit their memorandum before the ten member committee to achieve optimal inclusion of public views.
Parliament approved 60 days for the committee to receive public views and table a report before President William Ruto and his political nemesis opposition leader Raila Odinga before being tabled in parliament.
While presenting their memorandum NCCK’s Henry Njagi says the committee should consider adopting proposals from all the 47 counties
NCCK has also cautioned the National Dialogue committee against amending the constitution but formulate policies that could be enacted through acts of parliament
The committee is expected to recommend appropriate legal and policy reforms on issues affecting Kenyans in line with the constitution and respecting the functional and institutional integrity of state organs.
On the cost of living NCKK has insisted that the govt should repeal the finance act 2023 and audit public debts to ease the burden of shouldered by Kenyans over the increased prices of basic commodities
The men of cloth have also asked the NDC to form a judicial commission that would audit the contentious 2022 presidential election results
