Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago released on bail after being charged in Nakuru

The high Court in Nakuru has released Senator Jackson Mandago and two other accused persons on a bond of Ksh.2 million   and surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Ksh.500,000 each.

This is after plea taking was deferred by the court.  The senator is among three others in the spotlight over the controversial Finland and Canada Overseas scholarship Programme.

Senator Mandago and Two other suspects were arrested on Wednesday and detained before appearing in court today.

The fourth suspect yet to be arrested is said to have sneaked out of the country after news that the issue is being investigated.

Parents of the affected students have been staging protests in the county offices after trying to recover the money paid to the county during the reign of former governor Jackson Mandago.

President William Ruto also added his voice to the saga saying those found culpable after investigations are over should be made to repay the money.

He also promised help the affected students secure scholarships to complete their studies.
