The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance has planned vigil Wednesday to commemorate the lives lost during the anti-government demonstrations.

Azimio leaders suspended the protests slated to take place across the country adding  that leaders allied to the outfit will lead participants in launching a benevolent fund for the affected persons and their kin.

The opposition coalition added that persons intending to converge for the vigils should convene at locations including; hospitals, parks, bus stages, churches, markets, shopping centers, social halls, county assemblies and county headquarters, from 6 am.

Interior and National administration cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki has taken pride of the cancellation of the protest and has says the opposition has chickened out from holding anti government protests this week following the intense operation enforced  by the police last week.

Kindiki says the opposition called off its planned Wednesday protests after he averred to deploy more force to curtail the protest which he accuses of causing mayhem and loss of lives.

Further, CS Kindiki says the police will not relent in repelling off the streets looters and property vandalizers.

Kindiki was speaking  during the commissioning of the   “Amani Road,”  which links Elgeyo Marakwet County and West Pokot County that will facilitate effective communication and prompt response by law enforcement agencies to flush out banditry in the regions
