Musk’s Starlink Internet Now Available In Kenya

Elon Musk’s satellite internet firm Starlink is now available in Kenya ,Musk made  the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday 

“Starlink for sale in Kenya! Note, buying a Starlink with global roaming allows you to travel almost anywhere,” said Musk.

“Starlink is now available in Kenya,” said the internet service provider operated by Musk’s spacecraft corporation, SpaceX.

In January this year, the satellite internet service announced plans to venture into the Kenyan market with the launch expected in Q2 2023.

The company powered by SpaceX said it was awaiting service coverage and regulatory approval.

Starlink, which is already available in 44 countries globally, targets customers who struggle to access the internet through traditional landlines.

Kenyans will cough up Ksh.74,216 to register for the internet service which began launching satellites in 2019. 

a user will part with Sh89,000, another Sh3,100 for shipping and handling and a fee of Sh 6,500 per month for the service.

The service aims at reaching such customers by using satellites to send signals rather than relying on fibre optic cables.
