Azimio principals to miss national prayer breakfast slated for Wednesday

Azimio principals will skip this year’s National Prayer Breakfast scheduled to take place tomorrow.

In a statement, the party has confirmed that its leadership received an invitation to the event but will not take part in the prayer breakfast that is expected to begin at 9 am in Safari Park  Nairobi

“If past events where we shared platforms with Kenya Kwanza are to serve as guide, Azimio is convinced that the National Prayer Breakfast does not offer the environment the country needs for humility before God, honesty with citizens and respect between leaders,” the statement reads in part

In declining the invitation, Azimio principals have argued that the event will not offer a platform for a truthful and bold dialogue with Kenyans in addressing the critical issues confronting the country.

The leaders have however said their declination to attend the annual event is not limited to its lawmakers and have allowed them to attend.

This is as the National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi  confirmed that Azimio MPs will be in attendance with a rider that the opposition lawmakers hope the prayer breakfast  will not  turn into be political arena

“Party leader Raila Odinga and the entire leadership of the Azimio One Kenya party will not be in attendance. They will be engaged in other national duties elsewhere,” Wandayi stated
