No More Covid -19 Certificates To Enter The Country – MOH

The ministry of health says visitors arriving into the country will no longer be required to produce Covid-19 certificates or  valid test results.

Health Cabinet secretary  Susan Nakhumicha  said it will no longer be a requirement for those entering the country.

“Any passenger arriving, it was necessary that they give us a certificate of either vaccination and if they have no certificate of vaccination then a Covid test showing that they don’t have Covid so that is no longer there,” she said.

The World Health Organization (WHO)last week declared that the disease is no longer a global health emergency.

The WHO Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus called on the countries to manage the virus and that along with other infectious diseases .

He, however, warned that surveillance and genetic sequencing have declined significantly around the world, making it more difficult to track known variants and detect new ones.

“Inequalities in access to life-saving interventions also continue to put millions of people around the world at unnecessary risk, particularly the most vulnerable,” Ghebreyesus said.

The Health CS  advised stakeholders in the transportation industry to lower their guards on the measures against the spread of Covid-19

Nakhumicha says as per the latest COVID sampled tests in April, the country recorded negligible cases of coronavirus.

Nakhumicha  however said easing the measures should not facilitate a gateway for reckless living further asking the health official to put more focus to curb the spread of Cholera.
