The Azimio la Umoja coalition now says it will resume its protests against President William Ruto on Thursday.
Addressing the press at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Upperhill, Nairobi, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua said the protests will be based on the same petition that the Opposition has against the government.
“We are marching on. Tomorrow we will take a break and recharge”
Our protest shall resume on Thursday, May 4. Same Petition,” Karua said.
This after their protests in Nairobi were largely thwarted by heavy deployment of anti-riot police officers on Tuesday.
The officers blocked the Azimio convoy, which included mainly MPs, from accessing the Nairobi Central Business District.
Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, the Azimio deputy captain said the team will retreat to re-strategise ahead of Thursday.
“We are taking a break to recharge, re-strategise and re-energise.. we shall resume our protests on Thursday,” Karua said.
Martha Karua claimed that the government had ordered the immediate withdrawal of security details of the party leaders as well as those of other elected leaders in Azimio.
“Last night Azimio Leaders including Our Leader and Kalonzo Musyoka had their Security Withdrawn. This is significant because two offices are guaranteed security,” Karua said.
