120 Traders sue to block China Square from operating in Kenya

120 traders have sued to block China Square seeking to stop its operations in the country.

The Kenyan traders filed the suit at the High Court seeking to halt China Square operations as well as those of other foreign firms accusing them of importing low-priced goods.

The traders Peter Kariuki, David Kamau, Clinton Kabage, Nimrod Kihiu, Christine Ndung’u, Jane Muturi, Edward Kamau, and Martin Magondu sued under the Indigenous Capital Protection Association.

“Court to temporarily restrain the Director Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Management Services from issuing Class D and G permits to Chinese nationals, pending the determination of the petition”, they seek in court documents

The traders also sued President William Ruto’s administration, protesting the influx of foreign traders in the country.

They accused foreign nationals of taking over businesses including engaging in hawking, setting up stalls, renting shops and even selling their goods in their cars.
