Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga is expected to lead demonstrations on Thursday as his 14-day ultimatum to the government to address the high cost of living lapses by midnight.

“If the government fails to address these demands we shall take action,” said Odinga during an Azimio prayer meeting at the Jeevanjee Gardens last month.

Odinga had demanded that the Kenya Kwanza Administration restore food subsidies and reduce taxes.

He also demanded that President William Ruto opens the election servers.

The opposition leader has sustained his allegations that IEBC stole his presidential victory in the August 2022 polls.

Odinga further demanded a halt in the ongoing recruitment exercise of the new members of the electoral body.

However, the Selection Panel overseeing the exercise has advertised vacancies for positions of Chairperson and members of the Commission.

According to the panel, interested Kenyans have until 28th of March to apply for the posts.

The recruitment process follows the expiry of IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, and commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu‘s tenure last month after six years in office.
