President William Ruto has ordered that the national transport and safety authority be relocated to the ministry of transports.
In an executive order, President Ruto moved the parastatal from the Interior ministry where it was placed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. NTSA will now be under the watch of CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
NTSA is mandated to register and license motor vehicles, conduct motor vehicle inspection and certification and regulate public service vehicles including issuance of drivers license.
A part from Kithure Kindiki’s Ministry of Interior that has 22 agencies under it, Murkomen’s docket is the second most influential with 20 parastatals.
In January 23, 2029 Uhuru moved NTSA to the Interior docket under Fred Matiang’i saying the move was to ensure efficiency.
