France to defend or Argentina to crown Messi

A mouth watering FIFA world cup final is set for Sunday at the Lusail stadium in Qatar as defending champions France square it out against Argentina.

The defending champions suffered a lot of injuries before the tournament with Paul Pogba,N’golo, Kante, Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema , Lucas Hernandez, Christopher Nkuku and Presnel Kimpembe all out.

The absence of the top players has however not a big setback after Giroud and Kylian Mbappe stepped up in the attack getting crucial goals.

Latest news indicate that Benzema has shaken off the injury and is available for selection ahead of the final on Sunday.

On the opposite side , Lionel Messi will be out to inspire his Argentina side to lift the trophy and crown his career as the best ever after the exploits of Diego Maradona and Brazilian Pele.

Messi has won all the accolades in the world of football except the FIFA world cup that eluded him when Argentine was beaten by Germany in 2014 .

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni is confident of a good result having started on the wrong footing with a 2-1 loss against Saudi Arabia.

“I believe that time has shown that, if you don’t focus too much on the early results, the processes work. And they have worked.” Scaloni added.

Sunday is a day with destiny for both teams with records at stake.
