FIFA world cup semis kick-off on Tuesday

The semi finals of the FIFA world cup play on Tuesday and Wednesday with a probable repeat of 2018 final.

Argentina and Croatia begin the semis on Tuesday . Argentina captain Lionel Messi has had a glittering career, winning 10 Spanish league titles, four Champions Leagues, the 2021 Copa America and a record seven Ballon d’Or awards.

But, unlike other all-time greats, such as Brazil’s Pele or Argentina’s Diego Maradona, the 35-year-old has not been able to win the sport’s biggest prize.

His side must beat Croatia and win the next match to crown the sparkling career. Croatia will however have other ideas as they look to make the second world cup final in a row.

They lost 4-2 against France but a repeat of their spirited performance against Brazil might see them deny Messi the top prize.

The Second Semi France face Africa  history makers Morocco. They are the first African team to reach a semi-final of a World Cup.

Despite having an experienced squad with a number of high-profile players, such as Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and Paris St-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, the Atlas Lions have defied expectation to reach this stage.

They topped a group including Croatia and Belgium, before beating Spain in the last 16 and Portugal in the quarter-finals.

France are also focused for a successive final and to win the trophy back to back  to emulate only Italy and Brazil.
