Mombasa county government to stop construction of 3 buildings

The Mombasa county government has stopped the construction of three buildings to avert the crisis of collapsing buildings.

An audit of buildings within the county has unearthed serious violations of construction codes by developers, with some erecting storeyed buildings without permits.

This comes as private developers are accusing rogue structural officers in the national and county governments for the mess.

Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir said, they are making every effort to ensure that construction in the county follows due protocol.

The county has further ordered the immediate stoppage of rogue constructions.

It has also declared prosecution of developers responsible for the said buildings regularization of non-compliant developments and automation of the approval processes.
