Jubilee decries biased nomination selection

The Jubilee party is decrying a biased allocation of nomination slots in the National Assembly and county assemblies.

The party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has since accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of interfering with the nomination list, which is dominated by UDA and ODM members.

His sentiments came after a Jubilee parliamentary group meeting at the party headquarters yesterday.

This is as, only former Uasin Gishu senator Margaret Kamar is the only nominated member of senate.

“In the Senate, for example, one of our slot was taken away and we will not give it up even if it means going to court. We will do so because it was taken from us and given to one of the parties of our opponents,” he said.

According to Kioni, this was done to influence the voting of the speakers in the two Houses.

He said Jubilee bagged five Senatorial positions and hence they deserved 2 nomination slots.

The Elections Act Formula states; for every 2 senators a party gets, it is eligible to 1 nomination slot.
